I thought the site was clear and presented your message well. My only real critique is that it took a LONG time to load -- and I have high-speed Internet service. I suspect persons who live in areas with no cable or DSL service may find it frustrating to wait for the site to load. I personally prefer "lean" sites with no flash video or sound on the home page -- if one wants these, have buttons or links, but don't force them. The two items are related, not-so-incidentally, as the sound and/or video really slow down the page loading! Otherwise, good job!

Hi Harlan,
I like it--the colors and the sound effects are peaceful in themselves! Jill |

Well done! It's a beautiful website, clear and informative . . . not messy at all. Easy to navigate. The music is great! I appreciated the links of places to go, things to see. Trying to think of some constructive criticism, but can't come up with anythiing negative at all! I love it!
Marsha Cavin PS: Didn't find that the website took long to load at all. Everything popped up at once. |

A truly inspiring site, Harlan. It made me feel peaceful just looking at it. We appreciate your inclusion of our site. It now appears that we will be fully & officially permitted and licensed within the next few weeks. We look forward to once again welcoming visitors seeking the peace and solitude found here.

A visually appealing site. The Shakuhachi track is especially pleasant and soothing, and very appropriate to this site's theme.
Two things that need attention; I think a comprehensive site map would be a nice addition. Not that it's difficult to navigate the site, but an index of pages would simplify navigation all the more. Also, I found (at least) two dead links; one on the home page and one on the Therapists page. The non-functioning page that is linked, via the spinning yin-yang gif on the two pages noted above, is at http://www.mauizenvillaspa.com/index.htm However, with the tag "index.html" you are directed to the home page. Other than the above concerns, I think the site accomplishes what is intended quite well. Aloha! |

The layout of pictures and text are great! However, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. It was not relaxing because I think there's a malfunction with the music. As soon as the site downloaded, it sounded like scary and loud (but rhythmic) crickets had invaded my speakers. Underneath the loudness, I could faintly hear some flute music. Silent perusal makes me want to come back, though.

Harlan,
The site is very nice. A couple of nits: 1. The rotating yin/yang symbol is linked to a missing page. 2. I prefer my navigation back to home link at the top as well as the bottom of the page - especially if you have to scroll down to see the bottom of the page. 3. I am not a fan of sounds automatically coming on on a page. That being said, it would be nice to have a clear button to mute the sound as well as the media player controls at the bottom of the screen. What if I am at work and want to hit your site for some reason. I don't want the music to start blaring without a quick and recognizable way to mute it. Thanks for listening, Don C. |

Aloha John,
thanks for your review. I checked with my web designer, Gill Brooks, and he said the slowness has to be something related to your computer. I gave roadrunner and firefox and the page loads in seconds. I'm sure people with dile up would have a problem. Most people feel the sound of the waterfall and shakuhachi Zen flute enhance their enjoyment of the site. It really gives one the feeling of being here. Quote:

Aloha Bruce,
thank you for your comments. I'm glad you find our website appealing. The spinning yin-yang gif isn't supposed to be a link. Gill will fix that asap. Another thought would be to have the turning yin yang go to the Dali Lama's homepage. What do you think? Quote:

Dear Harlan and Judy,
I like your website very much. I am still carrying a gift certificate which I am more motivated than ever to use. I like the picture of Joanne....she is lovely. I would like to see a picture of the two of you in your beautiful setting and I am not real fond of the music....sound. I think something softer would be great. Aloha, Heather Mueller |

I found it downloaded quickly.
A beautiful site. Well organized. Only nitpick: IMO a location map would be nice. Doc |

I loved everything I saw and heard! Some clarifiying additions would be: site map; locator map. Putting the location on the next line from the name after each testimonial would be clearer. One praised Suzzanna (too many n's), but under "Therapist" (no "s"), there's only a "Suzan." Why? I'd like each artwork to fill a page. That's it and good luck.
