I'm in the process of creating a local search marketing business from scratch. The purpose of my business is to generate leads for painters in Sappington, MO and charge them a 10% commission for generating the business for them. Here's my time table.
Day 1: 04/29/10 Find a niche using my favorite keyword tool, Market Samurai. Determine the highest searched keywords that generate a map on Google for my business. Create a free local telephone number using Google Voice Day 2: 04/30/10 Create a free website tweaked out using my keywords for local search Sappington Painters The site was built using the free service from Weebly. Day 3: 01/01/10 Optimized and publicized my new business on Google, Yahoo!, Bing, InfoUSA, Localeze, Merchant Circle and other popular sites. You can learn more about how this works at VisOnTheNet Day 4: 01/02/10 Created video to promote Sappington Painters and publicized it using Tube Mogul. Notice how the video is already showing up in Google in the first spot on DailyMotion for the term "Sappington Painters" Immediate search engine placement is one of the greatest benefits of using video marketing ... if you know what you're doing. You can . I created the video on my mac using four pieces of software. There are much easier ways to create a video. I did it this way because I'm familiar with the software: Final Cut Pro, iTunes, Live Type and Garage Band. I also included the geo meta tag information for the business on the website and added Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools. Along with that we set up an account with Feedburner and twitter so that every time I post a blog, it will be broadcast to dozens of sites.

Hi Bob,
What did you do about using a physical address for that listing? I see you have one on it's site and would need one for the listing...just wondering how you handled that. Steve Weber |

Hi Steve:
This is my mom's home in St. Louis and this is her project. I've not found a way to create a successful local search campaign without a physical address ... have you?

Some say they have had success with drop box addresses...like UPS stores, etc. ....address and then a suite number.
But I would worry that Google would get wise to it. |

Hi Bob, I had said I would ask you this question. Not sure if it belongs purely to Local Search thread but there are some definite local search elements. I have a 2 bedroom condo in Scottsdale Arizona, specifically in the Kierland Commons area. I live in Canada. The site is listed at vrbo.com (Vacation Rental By Owner) and we have a local real estate agent looking after promoting and renting it. This year this condo hasn't rented that well and I'm looking for ideas to promote it better. I'm thinking of buying a relevant domain and building a promotional website of our own that we can drive some link juice to. I also want to have the condo listed for a keyword phrase that Google shows local listings at the top (what used to be known as the Google 10-box). I've considered sending some link juice to the vrbo listing but then I'm building up someone else's website. I'm not sure exactly which way to proceed. Anyone have ideas? Bob?

Hi:
Call me when you get a chance. I'd be happy to give you me ideas. In the meantime, please watch the video I created here just for vacation rentals. It's the video on the home page of Local Search Engine Marketing - VisOnTheNet My neighbor is currently generating all of his bookings via local search for Eva Villa and you might be able to do the same thing. Aloha, Bob 808-891-0449

Hi Zee:
I don't think it's a good idea to provide link juice to VRBO. If you decide to stop paying for VRBO, all is lost. Getting a domain name of your own like www.ScottsdaleCondoRental.net would be spectacular. Then I would generate link juice to either that site or to your Google Place page. I have a feeling Google pays attention to that. Notice how we link to our place page from the bottom or Sappington Painters 314-467-0603 - Home Aloha, Bob
