Thank you. I am looking forward to Internet Marketing Association of Hawaii's second installment on launching a web-based marketing venture.
The first was excellent. It stated having a website is useless if no one know it's there. Then showed how to easily and quickly ensure a website is indexed by Google, listed by Google, the most popular website searcher. I hope the next installment addresses what I've experienced -- that being indexed by Google is useless if no one knows your site is indexed by Google. My site is indexed by Google. I've published more than two dozen articles on-line, with links back to my site. Produced and broadcast more than a dozen podcasts, with audio links back to my site, that is, telling listeners to visit site if they're not listening to podcast on the site. Published blogs with more than 3 dozen separate topics, with links back. I've done many of the traditional marketing tactics -- biz cards, flyers, brochures, print advertisements, etc. -- with directions to visit website. I have not been on any radio shows; done any video clips as on YouTube, or any TV. The stuff I have done, much of which I'm pretty familiar with, has been time-consuming. Results have been zero, zip, nada, so I am keenly interested in the next installments on IMAH's series. Thanks for informative, enlightening opening. |

Thanks to Internet Marketing Association of Hawaii for great information and ongoing updates.
Another significant, nuts-and-bolts challenge for online marketers I hope IMAH addresses is exactly what kind of page will be displayed when a business's home page is opened. This is huge. A landing page, with direct appeal to buy a product or service? A sign-up page, to get customer names and e-mail addresses, and build an e-mail list? A brochure of goods and services? An info encyclopedia of news and information pertaining to whatever area of expertise? A combo of the above? And how does a business really stand out with that home page, make its product/service irresistible? Because you're up against amazon.com and others who are light years ahead of you, and you're competing directly against the big boys. What I've learned is that diligent, focused, results-oriented planning is well worth the time and effort. With a team. Asking and answering hard questions. Laying a an invincibly solid foundation. Building a website in the hopes the public will come is a waste of time and energy. And building a website in the hopes the public will come and actually buy a product or service is beyond a waste of time and energy. In my experience, this last thing has been a gigantic fantasy with no basis in reality whatsoever. Smaller start ups have to ask tough questions like, how do I know anyone out there even wants what I'm selling? It can't be because you hope they will. So thanks to IMAH for getting these issues out there and providing great education and information on internet marketing. |
