Default Using Blogger BlogSpot URL in Google LBC

Can someone use their blogger URL in their Google Local Business Center listing as their business website URL?

Google is not very clear outside of the example where the URL goes when listing a local business:

ie = Example:
HTML Code:
 Example: http://www.example.com
. . . just above the URL field. This seems to indicate "First level" domains only. However common sense seems to dictate since Google owns the LBC and Blogger they would allow blogspot subdomains .

Your replies will be appreciated.

Technically the "WWW" in the domain http://www.example.com is a sub-domain of example.com.

My first recommendation would be to purchase a domain name. A .com will cost you about $10 per year or you can get a .info for less than $1 on some sites.

If that is not an option you should be able to use a sub-domain of Blogger for your LBC website (or any website for that matter) with Google LBC.

As with anything related to Google, this could change overnight and without warning (though unlikely) so I would still recommend purchasing a domain name.

Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply Josh.

Actually the question is from a graphics design client of mine that has a body shop and wants to sign up for Google LBC.

Having never used a free site of any kind on LBC I thought I'd ask someone in the know.

So from your reply, specifically:

I think I'll try submitting a blogger site for my other biz at another location and see if it takes.

I'll let you know here how it shakes out. Who knows. I might get a nice surprise

Thanks again.

Mike

To be sure I just gave it a shot myself. GLBC accepted the blogger address without error and displays it properly.

Cheers!

hmmmmmm ... I just got the same results with a site I put up. It's about a month old now and I haven't done anything else with it yet. No Pictures, reviews, coupons etc and no inbound only links. It doesn't show up in local business listings until page 6 of the "More X Businesses near (CITY, St).

It will be interesting to see what some effort might do with this as far as actually showing up in listings on the first page. Well actually how well it fares against registered domain names.

If anybody else have a page one Google (Maps) Local Listings using a blogspot URL, just knowing someone, anyone has achieved such a feat, I'm sure myself and maybe others be grateful for the sharing of that info.

If in fact that can happen, then with the exception of a blogspot site not having ALL the flexibility of a wordpress blog on one's own domain, for very small businesses on extremely tight budgets, a blogger blog makes even more sense.

Thanks for the input on this thread folks.

Hi John,

Sorry no one has gotten back to you on this.

It's fairly simple actually. You get your blogger blog up and search engine optimized the way you want it for your market niche, then sign up to get your Google Local Business Listing and use every tool they have in the local business center for your business. That includes pictures, bios, hours of operation and all of it.

If you have done your SEO right (If you have questions on this see check out Bob's "SEO For BlogSpot Bloggers" course.) and register or claim your business on sites like Merchant Circle and other authority site directories (Google it to find the best in your location.)

Of course you want to go through Bob's video turtorials if you have any questions.

Then once you have that done, you need to get some folks to give good testimonials about the quality of your business.

It might take 3 or 4 weeks but you can make page one.

Hope this helps.
