Which is better for a newbie starting in affiliate marketing to use a blog or Squidoo?

I would do both. Depending on how serious I was about the affiliate product I would start with the blog first and create a Squidoo Lens next.

I personally use both but if you are very serious about internet marketing, I guess you really need a main site that is "backed up" by a blog, squidoo, hubpages, etc.
You could also add lots of web 2.0 that way you can be able to create lots of links.

Thats just how I do it. Others might have other methods.
