I'm wondering if it is appropriate to put a link to my press release in an industry-specific forum with users who would be interested in my product detailed in the press release?

Thanks for asking. Yes, it would be OK to put a link to your press release. I would encourage you to educate the readers of this post on what you know about press releases too. How did you distribute your release? What would you have done differently? etc.

Hi Bob,

What would be the purpose of educating the reader on how I distributed my press release? I'm the marketing coordinator for a safety company. We developed a rescue kit for telecommunication tower climbers and I've written a press release about it. The forum I want to post my press release on is a website for tower climbers. They would be interested in our kit. Is this appropriate or is it frowned upon to use a forum to promote your product?

Hi Jodie :-)

I think what Bob meant was that you tell readers inhere about your experience with the press release distribution. Who did you use, who received the press release, what was the cost etc.

As I understand it's okay to put links to relevant websites here, correct? I found this site for distributing press releases but I haven't used them yet.

Any experience with them? I can see that they have a lot of press releases from various sizes companies and all the way back from 2002 so I guess they must have some sort of experience and expertise in press release distribution, right?

Please let me know what you think as I need to distribute my press release soon.
