Are you looking to find email lists you can purchase, someone to design your email, email marketing providers or an all in one solution.
Generally if your are looking for email lists, this is a bad strategy. Most email marketing providers will not let you use purchased lists, its always recommended you build your own opt-in list. Via newsletter sign-ups purchases or site registration. If you buy lists you will find that your email marketing performance won't be very good as most people ignore unsolicited emails, never mind spam filters. Also the majority of email marketing providers sign up to ISP feedback loops which allows users to directly unsubscribe to a mailing list from their inbox or if they mark an email as junk. To many of these reports and an email marketing provider will block your account. If you buy a list your spam report rate will more than likely be quite high. Just thought I would let you know about the bad in buying list if that is what you are looking for. for email marketing providers I use www.reactivemail.com they have been the best out of all the ones I have used, and I have used a hell of a lot in my time. there main strong point is the tools you get. It is more of a highly bespoke application, where as the majority of web based email marketing providers are more of a simple create and send. for email design you would probably be best either contacting a local graphic designer (because you can easily meet and communicate changes expectations etc) or give it a try yourself. If you already do have an email list split it into a few groups try and keep the groups as random as possible i.e do not split it based on age/gender or something of that nature. Then setup a few variations of the same email e.g different layout / different content / different subject then send a your campaigns then you can see which parts of each email had the highest impact based on your reports. Its a good way to learn if you are just starting out. for an all in one solution I'm not sure there are lots of them out there but having never used one I wouldn't know how to rank them. And I find it highly unlikely they will give you detailed stats about the campaigns they have sent on their website. Plus it will be $$$$$$$$$'s |

As alfa said, it's best to create your own list, but you can use a purchased list to help develop it. If used correctly, b2b lists can yield a solid ROI. I'll pm you the info of a good list provider and an email marketing provider.
Regarding spam filters, many issues can be eliminated using spam checkers. Removing the "triggers" is key. So much effort goes into the content/creative with little regard for delivery. The difference between the "Inbox" and the "Spam" folder can be as simple as the subject line. |

Hi,
I am currently looking for a email marketing company, we are a company based in the UK, and I was wondering, is it better to find an email marketing provider in the UK or does it matter if the providers are based in perhapse the US or other countries. The one thing I am concerned about any support we may need while running any campaigns etc |

I would say it is down to your requirements.
If you are fairly knowledgeable with email marketing techniques then its not going to make a huge difference about the location of the provider. As your requirement for support will be minimal. If you a newbie or novice then I would recommend using a company within the same timezone. So you can access support during business hours. It also depends on the kind of relationship you want with the company. The Majority of large providers prefer to provide as little one to one support as possible e.g. if you need to find designers, obtain quality data, have someone manage your campaigns for you or even just ask questions about tips and tricks, they generally cannot help at that level and will more than likely point you to some documentation on their website. Where as smaller or more local providers are generally willing to spend more time with clients. An easy way to find out how accessible a company is, just go to the contact page if they have a phone number thats a good sign, if they do then call it find out who responds and how quickly. Ask them as many questions as you can and see how comfortable you feel with there competence. If they only have an online inquiry form then ask yourself is that method of communication sufficient for you, either way send it and see how fast the response is and how detailed is the response e.g does it look like a generic response, or is it just a link to a support page. So in short if you want to have someone you can just pick up the phone and call them, go for a smaller provider within your country or area. If you are not really picky about how much interaction you have with your provider then go for anyone that takes your fancy or has been recommended to you. |

I agree, it would probably be easiest if your email vendor is located in the UK or at least your time zone, especially if they will be managing your data and/or working on strategy with you.
That being said, Ive worked with both Epsilon Interactive and Responsys at different companies and they both had support teams in other countries, I want to say including the UK. However they are larger scale, I don't know what size your company is and if you are looking for a smaller scale company. I would just ask the agencies that you are looking at if they have in kind of support in your country. It is definitely doable if not, it just makes it easier as far as contact goes. |
