You may very well be experiencing the "Google Dance" first hand.
Google has hundreds of servers that respond to search requests and they are not always in sync. This means out of 3 searches you may be querying 3 different servers that show your rank to be in 3 different positions. Don't worry, if you are seeing an increase in rank now during the dance you will most likely be moved up once the dance is done. To see whats going on first hand, this tool will query several Google servers at once and show you how you ranking on a small selection of Google's servers. Google Dance Tool Give it some time, Google is fast, but not that fast

Google updates page rank time to time and it is mostly based on the traffic your site gets per day.

It looks like Google has rolled their index and something is shifting you can follow this update on Webmasterworld http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3713012.htm
It looks like many sites are being affected by this change; however this stuff changes all the time. No need to panic; just remember as long as you’re building quality content and useful information for your visitors you should have nothing to worry about. |
