Bob, this is one of the best examples of viral videos... That one is nasty; it did exactly what you said it makes you want to visit the website for more information on their findings.

Just like any conventional marketing you must have a message and deliver it to the right audience. Video is huge, you can say much more than you have ever been able to with a picture.

The Statement a picture says a thousand words, VIDEO can deliver your message that visitors can easily watch.

The other cool think about VSEO is that providers are making distribution of video much easier for small to mid size business owners to get involved.

Example:

We used to just stream our video content directly from our website incurring huge bandwidth cost from our ISP and killing our servers with peeked server load. This requiring business owners who wanted a share in the new media to pony up a large upfront capital.

Now we have places like Google Video, YouTube, Viddler and many other sources ... All of these services provide multiple levels of promotion, for most you can post your videos online for free and use their bandwidth and just post a snippet of code on your website that plays the video within a player. You can also become an advertiser within their networks to gain more exposure with your videos just like PPC however with video... It is very cool stuff.

Video is changing the industry very rapidly and we will continue to see a forward change as we see more search engines like Google move to a more streamline approach to including video into the main search results.

Here is a neat example of how Google is displaying results in the search engines if you type in Kansas Conservation Project 2008 you see that the video is listed in the natural results at #1 and if you type the same thing without the 2008 you get the video down at #5 it's very interesting how this algorithm works. All in all we will continue to see a huge increase in business owners using video to showcase products and services to increase awareness and sales.

The tracking is getting better with a combination effort of Google Analytics and Tubemogul both are free tools that provide great information that will help you make educational decisions in the future.

We used the green screen technique you shared above a few years ago when it was new and Wow! What an impact. We did exactly what you suggested. One of the things we couldn't figure out was how to have the video only play the first time a visitor came to the page ... and not every time that visitor came to the page. It started to get a little distracting.

If we can solve this problem, I believe we would get back into the green screen business again. Any suggestions?

There is a script I am using that I believe has the cookie feature in it.. Yes I agree that would be a huge problem for visitors. I will keep you posted on my progress I have my lights and green screen coming in the mail soon.

I like using video on emails, sites, blogs, etc. One of the things I have been advised is that Google does not index Flash videos. If that being the case, posting on u-tube, etc. and driving directly to a sales page is ok, but using Flash instead of good content does no good with SEO. Anyone else found this to be true?

Actually, Google can index text in Flash and they've been doing it for some time ... but most people are not aware of this. You are absolutely correct about Google not being able to index a flash file if there is no text, and many flash files do not include text or the appropriate text to be indexed properly.

I agree with you completely that the purpose of video in flash format on you tube or otherwise is to drive traffic back to your website.

For those capable of doing flash, more power to you. For those of us who are not flash experts, we can still use flash on our website, and we don't need to count on the flash content to get our page indexed with Google. What we need to do is add meaningful text content on the page with the flash program. That will get our page indexed properly even if Google chooses not to read the text in our flash document.

The problem occurs when you create a flash file without text on a page, and expect that page with the flash file to be indexed properly. It's not going to happen.

The best solution, and I think Michael hits the nail on the head here, is that content is king and you must offer the search engines content that can and will be indexed properly.
