This thing is depend on the website like if you have back link from the Matt Cutts blog then Google can recognize it withing 3 to 4 days but if get a back links from a website which is not so popular and not crawled everyday then Google can take 10 to 15 days. Generally withing 1 week Google can recognize the back links.

If you put back links on the website that is no more visited or not popular then search engine like google will take more time to sense and recognise.
