Hello Tuesday!

I just heard (don't recall the source) that submitting your articles to a bunch of directories may actually decrease your credibilty. It was recommended to stick to around 50.

Any feedback on this?

Just found in my notes that it was from Jason Potash's webinar (part of a series of Marketing Masterminds) on Article Marketing. However, I do not have the exact transcript so perhaps I made an inaccurate assumption. I jotted down that there are over 300 directories and 75% get little to no traffic or trust. Also, the interview could have been a little dated so that might make a difference.

I have tried submitting to many directories and few directories. I get most visitors from about 12 directories, eg, ezinearticles and buzzle.

So, I have revised my strategy to focus on the directories that give the most visitors.

Many newer directories (within last 2 years) have difficultly getting their pages indexed. That's not to say they won't be indexed but until they get more authority (pagerank/trustrank) their pages will be indexed slower....

By the way, what kind of traffic are you getting from the 12 (both in terms of readership and traffic to your site) and how long have you been submitting? I know it's different for everyone but I'm trying to get the big picture and set some goals.

A better way to look at this is on an article basis.

I submitted one article to Ezine Articles just over a year ago.

So far it has had 1818 views. and 241 clicks.

I gave too much info away in the article, I could probably at least double the clickthru rate by putting a bit less info in the article (I'm learning!)

But anyway - one good quality article - 241 visitors in about a year.

So, the more quality articles, the more targeted visitors, and 1 targeted visitor is worth more than a 100 untargetted ones!

I am learning too and in the process of editing and re-submitting the 15 articles I have on ezinearticles for more SEO titles, keywords, descriptions, and anchor text.

i do not think so as you increase the number of directories you promote in you get higher traffic and no effect on the credability as by that alot will read your article
