Default Is Article Marketing for everybody?

I've watched the videos and read the articles that the Recognized Experts have provided on article marketing and I feel like I'm beginning to understand its purpose. However, I'm not sure if I understand how it can be applied to the website I'm currently working on (Hawaiian Socks - Home). How would one, or does one apply article marketing to a website that sells niche socks? Any ideas?

Great question! You will need to know a few things though before article marketing can help your site.
  1. What are your keywords? What words do your customers (or potential customers) use to find your site?
  2. Create pages based on these keywords. For example if you were going to try and and take rank for "Tropical Socks" (just making terms up here. heh) you could create a page on your site dedicated to "Tropical Socks"
  3. Write an article that is to be syndicated. Within your author block you will want to ensure your keyword "Tropical Socks" links back directly to the page on your site dedicated to "Tropical Socks"
Without jumping too far into link building, this is a really good thing. You have a page that is optimized for a term your customers are using and then you make sure Google and the other guys know what the page is about (via the links and the anchor text you used within your author block.)

I hope this helps!

Hi, Bob and Josh--I just ran into a problem as I read through the Article Marketer author's agreement--they accept articles only in English, and the way it reads, that means no non-English words. Since my topics are Hawaiian music and history, there's no way I can go without using Hawaiian words. I've got two articles ready to go and was all set to send them in, but now hesitate to sign up. What do you think? There seems to be no way to actually e-mail the Article Marketer people to pose this question, and the knowledge base just says "English only." Have you run into it before, or do you know how to approach them with a specific question? Thanks, Jill

Hi Jill:
This is not a problem. If your entire article was written in Hawaiian or in French, this would be a problem ... but it's not. There is no way Article Marketer will not accept your article. The worst case scenario is if for some unimaginable reason they do not accept it, you have 30 days to get your money back. I absolutely would not worry about this.

Just a follow-up to my question about including Hawaiian words in my articles: I did submit them, they were accepted, and they're beginning to show up on websites. Thanks again, Bob and Josh!

Hi Jill:
Great news. What was the name of your article? You can follow exactly how many times it is showing up in each of the search engines by going to the search engine and doing an exact search. Here's how you do it.

"article title" + "author name"

Here's an example of one of my articles. By placing my "title" + "author name" in quotes, and doing a search for in in each of the search engines, it will show me the exact results. You must use the exact title and the author name you used with the article for this to work.

If you just do a search on the title without the quotes, you will not get an accurate result.

Here are the results in Yahoo!
"6 Ways to get your Blog Ranked High on Google" + "Bob Sommers"

Here are the results in Google
"6 Ways to get your Blog Ranked High on Google" + "Bob Sommers"

Here are the results in MSN
"6 Ways to get your Blog Ranked High on Google" + "Bob Sommers"

Here are the results in Ask
"6 Ways to get your Blog Ranked High on Google" + "Bob Sommers"

Notice how each search engine shows a different result ... and that would make for a great article don't you think?

Article marketing can be used for any niche that has a market, regardless of how small it is.

When people are looking for niche products, their tendency is to go to google and type in a search for them. The smaller the niche the easier it is to get your articles near the top of the results for google, or better yet, your own site.

People can't find these niche products in walmart so their next choice is google. Leveraging google with articles will be awesome for your socks!

article marketing is for everyone serious about promoting their website & generating steady streams of long-term traffic. it's a strategy that i ignored for a long time but since making it a part of my marketing strategy, it's a powerful tool that cannot be ignored (whether you think you're a writer or not).

it's about writing the way you would speak to a friend, edit it for easier reading (using bullets to outline main points) and using keywords in the beginning, middle and end of the article definitely helps in getting it picked up by the search engines (free traffic to your site).

i used ppc for many years, can get quite expensive. decided to stop being lazy & write a few articles to promote whatever niche site i wanted to drive traffic to. the realization, article marketing has a great "set it & forget it" effect in that... yes it's work and research in the beginning but once you're done, just sit back & wait to reap the rewards.

of course how soon to getting traffic can depend on the size of the niche (how competitive) and writing about a hot issue or problem your niche is facing.

overall it's definitely worth it and should be used by everyone. a powerful strategy that cannot be ignored. marketing diversification is key to success.

hope this helps.
