A new approach to public speaking help.
I run a network that allows people to practice their public speaking through Webcam meetings. Would you be interested? I am designing it so that people can take smaller steps as opposed to "speaking" right away. I am hoping to have the first meeting on Thursday march 13, 7pm Pacific time. oh and the best part is ITS FREE for now at least. Please let me know what you think or check out my website. www.killthebutterflies.com |

Just visited your site. I think it's a great idea. It would be especially useful for people who have a fear of public speaking, as it gives them a new medium to test out and practice on.
Good luck with it all

Mike,
What I like about Online Public Speaking is it gets you to start practicing the speaking process itself. My experience is that, the difficulty of speaking in public is only a notion in one's mind. Once you start the process itself, you realize that its a skill that you can acquire through practice. And doing this practice without the intimidation of "live" speaking is the catch. Thats where online public speaking comes about as useful. Rock on!!!

Yes, that's true. By practicing enough without the pressure of the speech being live, one would be able to get over the anxieties attached to public speaking live, and would eventually be ready to take on a crowd!

Hi Jamesdoran, I agree that taking small steps to improve at home is a great approach. Any recommendations as to how to start?

Hi Dan,
Well, if you're praciticing at home then you could develop a speech on any topic that you know something about and enjoy - many something as trivial as a pet! This would get your mind used to going over details in an understandable order, like you would if you were speaking to an audience for the first time. Then as you moved onto topics that your audience would be interested in, you could form a small focus group to practice on. Then if you make any horrible mistakes you haven't one any damage! Are you starting out as a public speaker? |

Nice site.
This could be a great help for those who fear public speaking -- good start to overcome those fears. |
