I think we're going to have to agree to dis-agree, Simo.... Only real experts can do genuine improvisation: and of course they don't - too much can go wrong. What they do is be flexible, so that it looks like they're being spontaneous.

Remember the old quote from Mark Twain? "It usually takes me more than three weeks to prepare a good impromptu speech."

Simon

Ah, good old pre-planned spontaneity! Not having much more than the marketing class experience of numerous (and yes forced) presentations, I can honestly say that every "A" mark I received was due to my own use of the tool.

Regardless of your political views, who do you think does the best job speaking in public? Who is the most genuine and believable? This is very hard to do based on political biases. This is the order I rate them.

1. Sarah Palin
2. Joe Biden
3. John McCain
4. Barack Obama

I would have to agree with that. The only change I would make is:

1. Sarah Palin
2. Joe Biden
2. John McCain
3. Barack Obama

Interesting! I'm from the UK and so our opinions are perhaps a bit different because of different cultural backgrounds. For the people I chat to it's...

1. Obama
...then a big gap...
2. Palin
3/4 Biden & McCain - can't actually tell them apart!
