I'm finding myself in the midst of a very interesting journey. I am reinventing myself yet again. I'm 55 and have been many things - an administrative professional with global responsibilities, a respiratory therapist, medical transcriptionist, traveling artisan, singer/musician and above all and always an entrepreneur.
My latest incarnation is as a speaker/trainer for other entrepreneurs who are following their own dreams. I began this path last June. What's really interesting, though is that with all of the careers I've had, I've never been so open to learning myself, to changing, to being of service. I recently returned from a Master Trainer's Camp near Santa Barbara where I had several life changing epiphanies. I feel I really have gotten clarity for "nicheing" myself and my products and although it sounds a bit hackneyed, I've never felt so alive. It's continually amazing to me how defining my focus is freeing me of all the "shtuff" out there that are distractions. How about you? What will you be if YOU grow up? Let's get a discussion going.

Deborah, I love the synopsis or caption of what you do: I teach people to create and nurture profitable relationships over and over again! Relationships, after all, are, the stuff of life and indeed, of true wealth. Unfortunately, most of us suck at creating and nurturing relationships. Probably because we don't realize how important relationships are until we're much older and also because most of us never get the right training in how to create and nurture relationships. So...bravo! Deborah. Keep up the good work.

hello all,
This is an interesting post for sure. I have been searching to find out "where I want to go next" as well. I have found the CD's of "The Secret" to be very positive and helpful in my quest-----Abundance for all; the world and everyone in it!!! I have just recently discovered another set from David Cameron Gikandi----called "A Happy Pocketful of Money". Just getting into it, but very good so far!

Wow...
I didn't think a whole discussion would develop from this rant... While I do maintain that it is always great to reinvent yourself and revamp, I'm not sure how profitable it is what you are doing. Public speaking is a vast marketing game with hundreds of thousands of competitors. People aren't going to pay to hear someone speak unless that person has already pitted themselves as someone who is an authoritative figure in society on a particular topic. What are you authoritative on? Again, I respect your post in the sense that you seem like a wise woman with a lot of experience in various fields but it comes off as a jack of all trades and then you mention public speaking. A little off putting if you ask me. Marshall P.S. Let's go everyone, give me your flack! |
