I started using Twitter today and I fear it is the beginning of the end!

For those of you that have never heard of Twitter here's a video I found on HowCast by the Commoncraft group.

I must say being on Twitter is much different than being on a forum or other types of communities. It was very exciting to see down at my last conference at Pubcon that the word for that event made it to the homepage since the entire conference happen to be talking about where the next party was or the next hot poker table.

I am still playing with it, there are tons of Firefox plugins and other tools that you can have fun with your Twitter account with but it can take up a ton of your time if your not careful.

the one I use the most is Twitterfox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5081

I have since un-installed the others this one just pops up every few minutes and keeps me up to speed with who I follow.

it is very handy.. I will get a list of others i have installed later tonight.

I am finding that that tool still has a few bugs ... The width is not good in IGoogle it makes you have to scroll to the right and left ... I am still addicted to Twhirl since you shared it with me.

I just explored the advanced settings and found some of the settings like volume control on alerts. It really gets annoying if you work with headphones and you have it set for all new posts that you are following. I have set my volume low and also I have it set for only sound on replies/direct.

That is a cool tool... Thx Josh for turning me into a Twhirl Fan!

Twitter is tweetastic. I think it will be THE social media tool (besides Facebook) in 2009.

Because it is easily digestible and easy to use, I love it.

It will be interesting to see what Twitter does in 2009. I heard there will be a new platform soon.
