For Members Only Have you ever wondered why certain people are always asked to speak at conventions while other very qualified speakers sit at home? Yes, it does have a lot to do with being an educational, entertaining speaker ... but there's more to it than that.

John Azzaro is the president of Great Speakers, a speakers bureau located Ukiah, CA. He promotes speakers to companies and associations through out the world. According to John, the most valuable tool every speaker should have is a professional demo tape. In this program, John and I are going to tell you how to create your own highly effective demo tape, and how to use it to sell yourself as a professional speaker.

Default Re: What Meeting Planners Look For In Demo Tapes - John Azzaro

Prior to moving to Hawaii, my wife and I owned the largest customer service training company in the country. At one point we went through a huge growing stage where we needed to hire three dozen speakers quickly.

Over the course of that time our staff looked at over 900 video demo tapes from people who wanted to work with us. The vast majority were horrible.

In this program John and I talk about what you can do to grab the attention of your potential customers quickly. You have less than 10 seconds to get and keep their attention. That's it. I know this for a fact because after 10 seconds of watching a poor video our entire staff was begging me to plug-in the next video. If they enjoyed the video, no one left the room until it was over.

4 Quick Tips
Your demo must be a video. You can post it to the Internet, send it on a CD or even tape it to a VHS tape ... but meeting planners want to see you as well as hear you speak.

Your credentials don't matter. You can send all the wonderful brochures and articles ever written about you but they don't have 1/10 the impact of your video.

If you're not selected, please ... don't beg the meeting planner for another chance. Either you're not a good match for their meeting or you need to work on your presentation skills. If you beg for another chance, you will never be considered in the future. Thank the meeting planner for looking at your presentation and move on with your life.

The only thing better than a fantastic demo tape is a fantastic live presentation in front of the meeting planner. You still need a tape however so that the meeting planner can sell you to his or her audience.
