The Business Vision is Different Than The Dream

I ran across this statement/quote earlier today and it got me to thinking about vision as it relates to business strategy, strategic planning...
"Vision without action is a dream. Action without Vision is simply passing the time. Action with Vision is making a positive difference."
-Joel Barker
If a dream is something we generally accept as a picture or idea associated with many pictures in our head and a vision is different, then wouldn't it make sense a vision exist outside of our head, maybe even on paper? Maybe I made a leap in logic but as an author I am entitled...
After I read this quote it really helped to clarify something for me. Only when we really begin to add the details to a dream, actually put it to paper, can we bring it together as it manifests a vision. The truth is, many people have done amazing things without ever writing it down but when we do write it down we are able to bring clarity to the vision, or to reach a little further we are able to give our dream some legs -- we are able to bring it to life. Just consider that next time you go to start a business or re-launch an old one.
Strategic planning has really has never been about writing it down. It's the process of writing it down that brings the clarity. So, this is Dan Nichols making it Lemonade Stand Simple or at least doing my best to make it so.

I couldn't agree more! So many entrepreneurs spend years chasing dreams and never make the transition to manifesting their vision. (That's where people like you and I come in). Looking forward to reading more!Posted 04-30-2008 at 03:47 PM by DeBorah Beatty
