A Niche is So Counterintuitive to an Entrepreneur

I just spent the last 36 hours out of town on a short vacation with my wife and daughter. We visited a place called Frankenmeuth, MI. It is up North I-75 at exit 136. It is a very popular quick get away.
Guess what made them famous? All you can eat chicken dinners. That is it. Not a million things. They don't try to be everything to everybody. They make chicken. In fact they sell more chicken to those dining in their restaurants than any other place in the world. They have over 3 million visitors a year.
Growing up I remember thinking it was stupid but then as an adult I have to admit, my wife and I really enjoy going there. Guess what? We don't go to the panda king express or subway or local bar. We go and eat a famous chicken dinner.
Why do I go on and on about this? Because as a business coach I see so many people trying to offer everything to everybody and they spend their days anxiously wondering why they aren't selling anything. As Susan Pouter (fitness guru) used to say STOP THE INSANITY! I'll leave it there. If you have to ask me why I wrote this blog - then you better be a paying customer.

I could not agree more. We took our generic customer service training company from $50,000 a year to over $1,000,000 a year in less than two years by focusing on a niche.
Go Chicken Man!

I found a photo of Zehnders Restaurant. The next time I'm in MI, I'm going to Zehnders to have a chicken dinner.
